I actually have some Lacuna Coil merch I have wristband from the gig at Brum in 06 and I robbed a bag from the stall as well like a black plastic LC bag. Sorry I want to keep them but anything else I find posters and stuff as I'm sure theres more... infact I think I have another poster. Kerrang have put out a lot of LC posters.

I like keeping up with the news so I get Metal Hammer every month and Kerrang if theres anything good. And sometimes Rocksound. Wish i'd got the one the other month with Cristina on now.

I love Rocksound. They're my favorite foreign magazine.

Is that because of their amazing issue with WT? Their one coming out April 22nd has Nightwish in. I really hope they chose one of my questions even if it's just the one about Bloodstock.

Please know, I am not typically one of those people.

Selling out, to me, doesn't mean a band actually being successful. "Selling Out", to me, is when a band sacrifices their original vision, their uniqueness, in order to attempt to gain more popularity. My judgment of "selling out" is based on the intent of the artist when writing the music. Which is why I said I was reserving judgment on LC right now. I don't like the fact that the imagery they are using is poppy, instead of staying true to their alternative, darker roots. However, this may be satire from the band anyway, completely intentionally geared to seem slightly mainstream, maybe even mocking the mainstream. Who knows?

For example, when ITM came out with "The Dream" I thought it sounded completely different from "Beautiful Tragedy", and I didn't like it as well, but I never labeled them as "selling out" until I heard about the interview where Maria Brink said specifically that their intent with the album was not to show their development or maturation as musicians, or change in musical tastes, but was written with the INTENT of being more acceptable and mainstream, so that they can headline stadiums. And even now, I will say they sold out, but I still like the old music, and I am kind of sad about it, but whatever, you know?

JUST FYI a band does not have to headline stadiums to be able to make a living. They have to headline stadiums to be ROCK STARS and CELEBRITIES. As a musician myself, I cannot respect a goal like that. I understand wanting to make a living off of the music you make, so you can dedicate the whole of your time and energy to it. I want that. But to sacrifice the quality of the music just so you can be more popular? That's selling out. That's neglecting your responsibility to the world as a musician, I believe. In my opinion, making music is something that should be sacred and revered by the musician, a responsibility to the world to create something that will be helpful to others. Music is powerful, possibly the most powerful thing in the world, and to create it is a privilege. It is my passion in life so I feel very strongly about this. I wouldn't just say that a band is selling out for no good reason.

Also, I am not accusing Lacuna Coil of selling out. I am saying I am concerned about the possibility of them selling out. I love LC, and I hope they do become extremely successful. They are already pretty successful. I am very happy for that. But I don't want them to sacrifice the quality of the music, or their identities as individuals for that. I am not saying they are, it is just the first taste of the promo has slightly concerned me. I didn't like the song as well as their older stuff either, but it could just be the mood I was in when I listened to it.

Please don't think less of me for my opinion, everyone is entitled to their own, and it should be respected.

And I do like the song better today than I did the other day haha...I will say also I like Andrea's vocals even more than ever here, I think he is getting better! I can hear more stability and strength in them, which is great. A lot of people complained about his vocals "ruining" the sound of the band, which I never understood in the first place...they just want more Cristina probably lol. I could never get enough of Cristina's voice really, but it's a nice counterbalance to have the male vocal.

Also, specifically what bothers me about the song are the drums, they have a very typical rock beat and such, but it makes the song groove and jive, and it's OK to use that once in a while. It just sticks out to me sometimes.

But for every other band that doesn't say what they were thinking when they wrote an album, how do you tell? I mean a style change could be something they wanted to do, because they thought it sounded better. Is there even a way to make that judgement without knowing the people in the band?

You are right, you can't really tell, unless you can tell from things that they say in interviews or other things like that. Or an attitude change, like if a band starts being mean to fans or something. Those are the only ways you can really know. I was (trying to at least) express worry, not judgment.

*face palm* Now why didn't I think of that? That makes sense. Good observation lol I seriously didn't catch that, I was all like, "Why are Cristina and Andrea being all snobby like that in those pics?" I figured there might be something conceptual but I guess my brain was just too lazy to actually try to figure it out.

So i finally saw that there are samples of the tracks that Andy posted. OMG I love all of the samples so much. And now, I am addicted to "spellbound". LC tends to do this to me I just realized, like the first time or two I listen to the song it doesn't really hit me, but then the 3rd time around or so, I get addicted. It happened with karmacode when it came out, and it even happened back around Comalies when i first heard of LC. It's kind of weird...
