Comprable bands?

So we always hear people say that they are Evanescence...I have to disagree there. But I want to know what bands you guys think are similiar to WT. So recommend away! Razz

They arent comparable with Ev. Ev and WT are both AMAZING bands with their own highs and lows.

well, IMO, usually the following bands are related to WT ( but I dont share that opinion about many of them Razz

) just because "similar" styles or mainly because they also have female fronted singer Razz

Nightwish
Evanescence
Epica
Delain
Leave's Eyes
After Forever
The Gathering
Tristania

etc, etc,etc

Most bands that are compared with them are only compared because thay have a female singer, which I find very sexist.

Exactly and people compare Amy, Sharon, Tarja and Cristina when they all have completely different voices!

Do you shudder when people compare you to Tarja Turunen or Cristina Scabbia?
Sharon: Look, I'm used to it these days. Although it still smacks of laziness. What have Within Temptation, Nightwish and Lacuna Coil got in common. Not a lot. Apart from having female vocalists. I'd say that if HIM and Linkin Park had girls singing, they'd be classed in with us as well. It's narrow-minded. I met Cristina not so long ago; she seems like a nice person. I don't think there's an air of competitiveness between any of us, just because we're female. The three of us are simply getting on with life, in our separate ways.

Well, I think it has to do with female vocalists, but if you think about it--look at the lyrics, the style of instruments and the way the songs are. In some ways, it's just linked. I guess that's just symphonic/goth/rock/metal for you or whatever category those bands are in. I don't know...it's just connected. Different, but connected. owo; Like Kamelot is male-fronted with guest vocals by Simone Simmons...I could compare them easily with a mix of Nightwish and WT...I think, but I only heard one song...xD The Haunting (Somewhere in Time). xD;; I don't know.

I dont think so. To me Xandria and Markize are similar to Within Temptation.

I don't think Within Temptation are similar to any other bands...they somehow have a sound of their own to me...just like Nightwish do. Other female fronted bands may class themselves in the same genre as Within Temptation, but they don't really sound like them and no bands can compare to WT IMO...LoL

I originally got into Nightwish because my father gave me the cd saying 'listen to this they're like Within Temptation'. But they aren't. I wouldn't really be able to say that any bands are like WT, all bands are individual.
