| An idea nicked from other foums Quite straightfoward. I say the name of a song and you say what you think it means. Then you can either say another song or not, if you want to know someone elses opinion on it. I'll start: Forsaken | |

| I think Forsaken is about the destruction of our world, and how we're causing it. We're bringing it on ourselves. We've got the whole global warming thing going on, which causes the ice caps to melt, making the sea level rise ("as the sea started rising, the land that we conquered just washed away"). And several people have tried to fix it, and "turn back the time"...but it obviously hasn't worked.
Basically, it's about a bleak future caused by us manipulating our world. Our greed and blindness bring this about and the sacrifices we must make to attempt to remedy this are far too expensive for the corporate mind and the governments of this world.

| Well the title would suggest looking beneath the surface, and seeing the real person underneath...but some of the lyrics ("hear the silence, preaching my blame", "the world is in our hands, this is not the end") confuse me a bit...I'm sure there's another meaning to it.

| Sounds of Freedom is so confusing. I think it's basically about being free, and striving for that freedom. Trying to make is happen. That's the best I got. What Have You Done? | |

| Listening to the lyrics of this song, it sounds like a relationship that began really, really well and has sank into decline, to the point that the two people involved are almost at a point of hatred. Although I think that the lyrics, 'Would You Mind If I Killed You' in this song are the most bizzarre and nonesensical ever written by WT, it's seems obvious that the person Sharon is singing about is someone she once loved but now 'carries hate' that she doesn't feel in herself. And therefore, that is the reason for the destruction of the relationship?

| I think it's about someone who is in battle. A warrior. The dark wings are demons, the forces against the warriors and the person the lyrics are talking about with "don't you die on me" is a fellow warrior who's been fatally wounded, and then dies. I could totally see a music video for this... The Cross | |

| The Cross is about a person who has gone through something awful. A lot of people turn to God when they feel they need help, which might explain it's called 'The Cross'. Also supports that "God" is a sadist. The person is wondering why no one came to them in their time of need, and chose to ignore the problem hoping it would go away.

| Ah DOF, this is meant to be! For me this song is obviously about dictatorships from the POV of someone looking in/a survivor. The line "no light in the darkness is too small to see" is absolutely beautiful, because I think it really captures the essence of hope. Hope that freedom and opportunity will return.

| Candles I think is about life and death. How life depends on other people and slowly everyone dies no matter what. But the music really gives a sense of hope to the listener; not so much the lyrics, but the instruments, and even the melody of Sharon's voice. It sort of shows that everyone dies, and it's nothing to be afraid of.

| Overcome is pretty straightfoward in it's message, imo. It's about overcoming your challenges and trying to be better. "In violence there's silence", that is basically saying don't stoop to their level.

| In my opinion The Truth Beneath the Rose is about the flaws of religion. I mean the song asks "is it a sin to seek the truth." I mean is it a sin or do you make your own truth? Do it matter if it's a sin even if how you are raised teaches you otherwise. I think listening to the lyrics of this one that is a little more straitforward that it's about flaws in religion in the not wanting to be "lost between two worlds" but "have lost my faith in holy wars." It seems to root more directly into catholicism and Sharon was raised Catholic but no longer practices. Maybe it's of the point of view of a former catholic who finds the structure of catholicism flawed. As a historian I have to agree with these lyrics and it's meaning with my interpretation but of course my interpretation is not meant to offend anyone should someone be catholic and think that I am.

| AIN is about wanting to be loved, but not really being able to find it in other people. The person really doesn't trust people anymore because they've been hurt so many times now. ("I tried many times but nothing was real") The person thinks they may have finally found real love but they're scared of it either not being real, or the person not feeling the same way.

| I think the Other Half is about meeting your loved one and think they were your perfect other half. But soon after things go wrong and they want to leave you because they don't want to harm you or they half to go to war. So things go topsy turvy and they end up leaving each other. Or something along those lines The Heart of Everything? | |

| Mother Earth's message's pretty clear, actually - the mankind is nothing against the forces and power of nature; "she gives" you all the conditions to survive, but "she takes" all of it if it's that what she wants. =)
