I think Our Farewell and Forgiven are about the same person... But I'm afraid to ask Sharon or the band about it, cause apparently someone asked her about Forgiven and she got really sad.

I want them both at my funeral, looking at the titles it would be best to do Forgiven then Our Farewell, but listening to the songs it would be better the other way round.

Yeah...I'd be nervous to do that too. Wouldn't want to depress her...I'd feel so bad.

xD They were only curious, I'm sure. They probably didn't want to make her sad...

Another acoustic version of Forgiven. Would have been perfect if it wasn't for the keyboard malfunction at the end:

I don't listen to this song a lot, it (like Pale) has the ability to make me cry. Especially the "you were looking for the great escape" line.

The combination of Forgiven followed by Somewhere on Black Symphony is very emotional. Does make me cry sometimes, and thats a hard thing to do
It actually reminds me of my brother in a similar way to Somewhere. or atleast the whole situation. Means alot to me

I just adore thi song..it almost makes me cry(but Frozen is the only WT song that i really do cry a lot!)and i don`t know it`s special..it`s my faorite ballad the saddest WT songs... Enter:While the song are mory creppy than emotional i`d have to choose Gatekeeper, when Sharon sings "They dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed"it almost makes me cry... Mother Earth:Our farewell, without a doubt.I simply love it TSF:Somewhere..however is so beautiful..but i almost always cry with crocodile tears THOE:Frozen and Forgiven are the saddest WT songs..I like Frozen, but I preffer Forgiven... ..sorry these songs make me cry a lot... and from The Dance i`d have to say Another Day.Isn`t sad..but...well i can`t really see the sad parts in The Dance or the Other half Of me..

It's so beautiful and so fitting. I think I kind of block it out too though along with Somewhere. As much as they help with healing it hurts too.

Looks like my mini-theory was partially right :-\ (check "All I Need" thread):
Quote :
We had a family friend. He emigrated to Indonesia when I was a toddler, where he married and started a family. When he was back home, in The Netherlands, he regularly went to Friesland to visit his parents. I was thirteen when he took me along on his trip up north, so I could visit a friend of mine who recently moved to Friesland. Although I had known him all my life, I had never been alone with him for 2.5 hours. He was a big and tall guy but shy, a man of few words, but that day he was talking the whole trip. He made me feel more at ease by talking to me and treat me like an adult.
He bought me a passport for Friesland and gave it to me in the car. For many years, a part of the population in Friesland wanted to separate Friesland from the rest of The Netherlands. It never happened, but they have small ways to keep that thought alive and to tease us; their dialet and amongst other things a fake passport. Inside the passport there were all sorts of things; a map, discount coupons for the museum and shops and the typical need-to-go places for a tourist... lol. I was pleasantly surprised and it definitely broke the ice, those 2.5 hours flew by. When the weekend ended he picked me up at my friend's place and drove me back home again.
Years after, when he had to work in The Netherlands, he rented a room at my grandma's place. Those were happy days and each time he became a bit more a part of our family.
Everything changed in 2000, he wife wanted a divorce and she got it. When you marry in Indonesia you haven't got many rights when you are a foreigner; your kids, all your savings and your house automatically go to the "true" resident, in this case his wife. She had the legal rights and she got everything they owned. He came home a broken man, he had no money, no home, and an alcohol problem. Although he got his old job back, had a new girlfriend, he wasn't the man he used to be. I didn't see him that much after as our paths simply didn't cross, but the last time I did I realized that his problems were bigger than most could see. At the beginning of "The Heart of Everything tour" he committed suicide. The department he worked for was shut-down and he was unemployed, that was probably the last push.
It's strange that I didn't remember that weekend until the day I heard that he had died. It was a special weekend, I think he was special, I'm just sorry I never told him that. Forgiven is written through the eyes of a parent, but he was a friend and this song sometimes reminds me of him. I could have explained the lyrics of this song, but in this case I think that is really a waste of time as they are so clear to my opinion.
