Comprable bands?

So we always hear people say that they are Evanescence...I have to disagree there. But I want to know what bands you guys think are similiar to WT. So recommend away!

They arent comparable with Ev. Ev and WT are both AMAZING bands with their own highs and lows.

Well this is just asking the drama llama to come.

that is very very true

well, IMO, usually the following bands are related to WT ( but I dont share that opinion about many of them ) just because "similar" styles or mainly because they also have female fronted singer

Nightwish
Evanescence
Epica
Delain
Leave's Eyes
After Forever
The Gathering
Tristania

etc, etc,etc

Delain are very good and they have one song with sharon.

I agree with Delain. But not most of the others...

Most bands that are compared with them are only compared because thay have a female singer, which I find very sexist.

I agree, it's not like people would comare Alice In Chains to Iron Maiden!

Exactly and people compare Amy, Sharon, Tarja and Cristina when they all have completely different voices!

I've been saying that for ages and very people listen!

I dont think is WT similar to Tristania, After Forever, Nightwish or The Gathering. Only beacuse they have female singers are they similar?

I dont think so. To me Xandria and Markize are similar to Within Temptation.

I don't think Within Temptation are similar to any other bands...they somehow have a sound of their own to me...just like Nightwish do. Other female fronted bands may class themselves in the same genre as Within Temptation, but they don't really sound like them and no bands can compare to WT IMO...LoL

I originally got into Nightwish because my father gave me the cd saying 'listen to this they're like Within Temptation'. But they aren't. I wouldn't really be able to say that any bands are like WT, all bands are individual.

If they're comprable.. I dont know.

That's what it is. People seem to assume that because they're women, they obviously can't be original so they're all copying each other

Yeah...that's irritating. I think any band that has that sort of dramatic, symphonic sound is able to be classed in with WT. Now, there are some exceptions. I can't think of any right now, but I'm sure there are some bands whose background music (instruments) sounds a lot like WT's, but maybe the lyrics are completely different.

I think every band has there own sound. So I'm gonna agree with Kyoko. I think any band that's part of that sort of genre is comparable. Just not the same.

Maybe Delain but only slightly. Not Evanescence, i really don't understand why people always say they are alike. They have similarities, sure, most bands have similarities with other bands, don't make them like that band though

Yeah I tihnk Evanescence it the most similar american band, but they are still REALLY different.

There is a reason that Delain is similar. Martijn Westerholt was in WT originally and he's Robert's younger brother.

Delain and WT are probably the most similar. But even then, Delain have a harder edge to them, while WT lean towards the melodics.
